Australians Wii’d on

Nintendo’s finally released their urine-sounding (and possibly smelling, yet still unconfirmed) console into the arms of loving Australians nationwide today. As expected, Nintendo fans have taken to the streets at midnight to welcome in the launch of the Wii console. While official launch celebrations may not have been as elegant and large-scaled as the Xbox 360’s launch party in Sydney was earlier this year, it’s still promising to see some 30-40 fans turn out in even small cities like Mildura.

Gamer Within was on location at both the Mildura and Adelaide EB Games midnight openings, soaking in the atmosphere, the excitement and the happy smiles of Gamer Withiners Aaron and Zach, who picked up their very own Wii consoles.

Below, you can find a small collection of photos taken from the relatively quiet Mildura launch. Would have loved to have taken a picture of the line-up and gathering outside of the store, but the kind security guard who was constantly breathing down my back advised that it wouldn’t be the best of ideas to take a picture of the store outside - some “center policy,” which governed the shopping complex in which EB Games Mildura is housed in.
