What an extra $200 gets the gamer

Compare the following linked images… and decide if the hyped Cell Processor and ’supercomputer’ give you anything extra at all. Sony claims the next gen arrives when they do. Looks like it has been here for quite a while already. Thanks for showing up late.

Quotes from Sony’s Ken Kutaragi:

“With the PS3, our intentions have been to create a machine with supercomputer calculation capabilities for home entertainment…You can experience the 4D world.”

The 4th D is for what? Technically TIME is the 4th dimension. So, Sony will take you backwards or forwards in time? Looks like they take you nowhere.

“We want for consumers to think to themselves ‘I will work more hours to buy one’. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else…The PS3 will instill discipline in our children and adults alike. Everyone will know discipline.”

Perhaps the beatings and shootings just show how much discipline those children and adults have… you think? Or maybe it’s the discipline required to not smash the unit when you realize you could have bought 7 360 games with that money instead.

“Microsoft is trailing behind us, but they are not a threat. They are good at improving [on products], but we will be advancing to the next level with revolutionary technology…Microsoft shoots for the moon. Sony shoots for the sun.”

And Microsoft is mooning you all the way to the bank.

OK, check out the screen comparisons for yourself:
